Microsoft Unveils the Successor to Windows
Microsoft Midori
After the debacle of Windows Vista and amid hurried developments on Windows 7, software giant Microsoft let slip a very interesting piece of information.
Microsoft reported of it's inception of a research project to create a software that will take over when Windows finally retires.
The revolutionary software will be Called Midori, and this cut-down operating system is going to be radically different to Microsoft's other older programs.
As is the need of the hour now, Midori will be centered on the internet and will not depend on factors that tie Windows to a single PC.
It will be based on the principles of "virtualisation" that solves many of the problems of modern-day computing. Many rival firms have already adopted or are fast adopting virtualisation.
An Operating System is loaded onto a hard disk physically located on that machine... and that ties it tightly to that hardware... and that creates all kinds of dependencies that arise out of the collection of hardware in a particular machine. That's why Windows cannot cope up with the blistering change in pace of future technology. And that's where Midori comes in.
Computer users in the future are likely to be much more mobile than they already are. Midori as a virtual machine will have a very small core and will be easy to transfer to different devices. This is the idea behind Midori - to create a lightweight portable operating system that can easily be mated to many different applications.

Microsoft's trump card
