Paddy Upton is standby coach for Team India
India Confident Ahead of Final Test
As coach Gary Kirsten takes a very un-needed break ahead of the crucial third test between India and Sri Lanka, Paddy Upton does a Hercules.
Upton would coach the Indian cricket team during the final test match.
"Each player is aware of his role and responsibility in the team. It is also so with the team management. It’s a case of doing what we have always been doing," said Upton on the sidelines of the practice session.
Among things that are unchanged, Robin Singh and Venkatesh Prasad remain in charge of fielding and bowling respectively.
India aims to clinch the test series and brandish the trophy, a feat Team India is supremely unlucky at. Dinesh Karthik faces a tremendous amount of pressure as this would probably be his last chance of proving himself to be worthy of selection. Karthik looked uncharacteristically focused and quiet during the practice sessions.
The formidable middle order containing Team bigwigs Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid also aim for better scores after four miserable innings in the previous tests.
All eyes would be on the star openers, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir, who initially slid the advantage of the second test match towards India. Sri Lankan bowlers would definitely be searching for their Achilles Heels.
