Delhi bridge collapse kills four
More Deaths due to Rains
In a harrowing incident on Saturday evening which triggers fear to both commuters and pedestrians alike, a bridge built over a drainage in New Delhi collapsed killing four persons and injuring nineteen others.
The incident took place at around 4:50 pm near Taj Mansingh hotel.
All of the injured people were rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital... 10 of them lie in critical condition.
The bridge is though to be built over 50 years ago and was already deteriorating. The recent heavy rains might have triggered the collapse, officials said.
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit visited the tragic spot and announced a compensation of Rs 1 lakh to the families of those who died. The families who lost their minor children will get Rs 50,000 and the injured will be given Rs 20,000.
