The Dark Knight Still Shattering Records
X Files Bombs at Box Office
The caped crusader continued his assault on ticket sales for the second straight week and has amassed a mammoth #315 million in a record 10 days.
Earlier The Dark Knight made $238.61 million in its first 7 days, making it the fastest movie ever to reach the $200 million mark as it beat the previous record held by Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest by a huge $42.6 million.
The Dark Knight seems a very good candidate to overthrow Titanic’s reign of the highest grossing movie in history. With fans going berserk over the Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker, Dark Knight might just cross the $600 million mark of Titanic.
On the downside, ‘The X-Files: I Want To Believe’ was a disaster. The sequel to the 1998 predecessor ‘X Files: Fight the future’ only managed a meager $5 million. Mixed reviews and disappointed fans did not help its box office muscle either. After a huge gap of six years, the X Files movie reunites FBI Agents Mulder and Scully in their quest for the truth into the paranormal. Although the movie doesn’t follow the alien mythology, its more of a stand alone episode of the series, which according to Xphilians, should surely have been one of the season finales during the series’ run.
