Movie Review: Bachna Ae Haseeno
Three Chix and a Bloke
Its Independence Day and there are TWO reasons to celebrate .... one reason being obvious, the other being simply this - a cracker of a film that unites THREE babelicious mamacitas namely Bipasha Basu, Deepika Padukone and Minissha Lamba (not necessarily in that order).
Oh and there is also this one bloke called Ranbir Kapoor.
Ranbir Kapoor seems like he's having the time of his life filming his role... and he should, for seldom does a newcomer get to be paired alongside THREE of the hottest actresses in Bollywood. Of course it helps that he's dating one of them. It also helps that the title of the movie is the same as the title of a glorious song that his dad sang in his own movie.
Bachna Ae Haseeno is a Yash Raj Banner - a dream come true for arguably anyone who wants to be someone in Bollywood. Of course one would always be oblivious to the fact that Yash Raj has lately produced some of the most horrendous stories ever captured on celluloid (Tashan, Jhoom barabar Jhoom, Tara Rum Pum)
But there is no fear this time around...for Bachna Ae Haseeno is a certain block buster.
Ok coming to the plot - its quite simple really... it is the story of happy go lucky Raj Sharma (Ranbir Kapoor, husn ka aashiq) and his journey of love, life, heartbreak, redemption and nirvana as he waltzes through the age of 17 to 30.
He meets three gorgeous girls at different stages of his life... a glamorous girl from Mumbai, Radhika (Bipasha Basu, uber HOT).... a small-town girl from Punjab, Mahi (Minissha Lamba, passable) ... and an NRI from Australia, Gayatri (a spectacular Deepika Padukone).
The film is about what Raj learns about life and love from his experiences with these three girls.
Apart from Bipasha Basu and Deepika Padukone, Preity Zinta and Katrina Kaif were also roped in for the movie. But Preity dropped out and the producers thought that Katrina's role wouldve made the movie far too long. Preity was replaced by Amrita Rao who in turn was again replaced by Minissha Lamba. And the producers have made the right decision.
Which brings me to the ladies. Bipasha Basu is by far the most interesting character.... and by far the best looking character too. Her confidence and oozing oomph is just unmatched.
Deepika Padukone comes a very close second but even her undeniable physical beauty and charm stands no chance against the likes of Bipasha Basu.
Minissha Lamba is not bad at all, but she is quite overly made up and quite obviously struggles to fit in her ultra glamorous role.
With some picturesque cinematography, catchy songs, and a cast you cant go wrong with, Yash Raj is back to what it does best - entertain!
Bachna Ae Haseeno is paisa vasool.
